ALBUQUERQUE, NM - New York Times and USA Today bestselling author and Latina Magazine Woman of the Year Alisa Valdes-Rodriguez announced today that she will begin offering daily live readings from her groundbreaking classic novel, THE DIRTY GIRLS SOCIAL CLUB, via her Facebook and Instagram feeds. The readings will take place for 1 hour, starting at 6 p.m. Mountain. She will read the entire book, start to finish, over several weeks.
The 2004 novel was re-issued late last year by St. Martin's/Macmillan, and has been published in 11 languages around the world. It tells of the intertwined lives of six vibrant Latinx women from diverse backgrounds, all in their late 20s, who met as freshman at Boston University and made a vow to get together twice a year every year for the rest of their lives. Valdes-Rodriguez will also discuss aspects of the book's writing, reception, and efforts to bring it to the screen. She will additionally answer questions from guests.
"I know this pandemic has been very hard on all of us," said Valdes-Rodriguez. "I hope with these readings I can create an intimate space where we can all gather together in sisterhood, where I can be an entertaining storyteller and caring friend to those who have supported me all these years."
